→ Republic Day: A national festival celebrated on 26th January, when India adopted its Constitution. Constitution A book of rules that tells how the country should be run.
→ Ashoka Chakra: A blue wheel with 24 spokes representing duty and progress.
→ Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: A mission started to keep India clean, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.
→ Diversity: Having many different types of people, cultures, food, clothes and languages.
→ Headgear: Items like topis, turbans or helmets worn on the head for culture or safety.
→ It was 26th January, Republic Day. In school, all the children gathered around the flagpole early in the morning. The folded flag was tied at the top of the pole and the ground around it was nicely decorated with flowers. As the head teacher pulled the rope, the flag opened up with the sound of clapping and drums. Together, everyone proudly sang the National Anthem.
→ The student also watched the Republic Day parade in New Delhi. They enjoyed seeing fighter jets, colourful cultural programmes, state tableaux and the brave defence forces like the Army, Navy, Air Force and paramilitary forces.
→ The Republic Day is celebrated on 26th January, 1950, because India adopted its Constitution, which is a set of rules to run the country. Even though India became independent on 15th August, 1947, it needed rules to work properly. The Constitution helps keep everyone safe and united.
→ The teacher showed the picture of Mahatma Gandhi on a currency note to the students. His spectacles in the picture are the symbol of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, inspired by his belief in cleanliness. Gandhi Ji believed that everyone should keep their surroundings clean. In his ashram, everyone followed strict rules to stay clean.
→ They also saw the National Emblem of India – lions standing back to back. It is a symbol of strength, courage and confidence. They also saw the Ashoka Chakra below it, which can be seen on government buildings and official documents.
→ Symbols like the flag, emblem and Gandhi ji’s glasses remind us of our identity and make us proud. Even a currency note shows India’s diversity as it lists many languages. India is a country full of diversity, just like a forest. There are many different cultures, languages, clothes, foods and traditions in India which make it strong and self-sufficient.
→ India’s music and dance are a vital part of its culture. People use them to celebrate, pray, and share stories. Even a simple drum sounds different across regions.
→ Instruments like the mridangam, sitar, and shehnai show the diversity of our musical traditions. India shows unity in diversity, where people of different religions, languages, and cultures live together peacefully. While we follow traditions like Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation, we also grow with modern technology, from farming machines to rockets, and digital tools like BHIM keep us connected worldwide. These modern changes are not replacing our traditions-they are adding new colours to them. As proud Indians, it is our duty to take care of our wonderful and diverse country.
