Summary of The Wise Parrot Class 5
The Wise Parrot Summary
The story is about a rich merchant who keeps a bright and talkative parrot in a golden cage. Though the parrot is well cared for, it longs for freedom. When the merchant asks what gift the parrot would like from his travels, the parrot requests to be set free. Unable to grant this wish, the merchant offers anything else. The parrot then asks him to convey greetings to its friends in the jungle.

During his journey, the merchant meets a group of parrots and delivers the message. Shockingly, one parrot falls to the ground as if dead. Later, when the merchant recounts this incident to his pet parrot, it also collapses, appearing lifeless.
Heartbroken, the merchant places the parrot on the windowsill—only for it to suddenly revive and fly away. The parrot reveals that its friend had shown it the trick to escape.
The story teaches the value of intelligence and freedom, showing how wisdom can overcome even the strongest cages.
