Class 7 English Paper Boats Summary
Paper Boats Summary in English
This poem was written by the famous Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore. The poet imagines himself as a little child who makes paper boats and let it float down a stream. In big, black letters, he writes his name on the boats. He also writes the name of the village where he lives. He feels that his boats will sail and reach some strange land where people will find them and read them. They will find out the identity of the poet.
He also loads his boats with shiuli flowers from his garden. These flowers blossomed in the morning and he wishes they will be safely carried to land by night. The poet imagines that the clouds in the sky helps the boats to sail. He also imagines that the clouds race with his boats.
At night the poet buries his face in his arms and dreams that his boats continue to float for a long time under the gaze of the stars. He also imagines that fairies of sleep are sailing in his boat and their baskets are full of dreams. Thus, the poet imagines the fantasy of a child floating paper boats in a stream, who feels that the boats will travel far and reach someone in some strange land.
