Rama to the Rescue Class 6 Summary in English
‘Rama to the rescue’ is a folktale from Tamil Nadu.
In a village, one night as the husband and wife were getting ready to sleep, the wife heard some strange sound. It appeared as if some thief was trying to get in. The strange sound soon stopped. The man of the house was sure that the thief had got into their house. He told his wife not to look anywhere but to lie down.

The thief heard their whisper and said to himself that he could hear their voices, so he should want for them to fall asleep. He wondered where they kept all their money.
The thief heard the husband and wife still talking. He tried to listen to them closely because he thought they must be talking about their money.

The thief was very irritated and angry because both of them were not talking about money but about naming their child and how they would call him. He found their game to be very silly. The husband told the wife if their child was a boy they would call him Rama.

Then both of them discussed how they would call out his name in different situations. The pair decided if the child was in the house they would call out softly, if in the yard they would call out loud and if in the street they would call out ‘Rama! Rama!’ Very loudly.
Rama was the village Kotwal. He heard his name being called out so loudly. He rushed into the house through the opening dug by the thief. The thief unaware was glad that the two had stopped talking. Rama, the Kotwal arrested the thief. The man and his wife by their intelligence had saved themselves from being robbed.
