One of the main advantages of competition in the workplace is that it can create an environment where employees push each other to exceed their normal limits, which can result in increased production, both at an individual level and among the entire workforce as a whole. As individual production numbers increase, so do those of the entire team of workers who seek to outdo one another. Competition can be rewarded with bonuses or various types of rewards.
Another way in which workplace competition can be an advantage for workers is that it can spur a commitment to self-improvement. Some ride motorcycles and some wait for their buses by the road. I can see some school children too. Some of them are waiting near the yet unopened gate of their school. They are so early. I too have to go to school but I do not have to go that early.
I pass a tea stall that has opened for business. I can see some dark figures huddled under the stall. I guess these people are having their breakfast. I can see the stall owner ‘pulling’ a mug of tea. The stall is situated under the street lamp, so it is not completely dark. It is clever of the owner to position his stall; thus, he saves on having to light up his stall.
My destination nears as I leave the road and enter a small footpath. This is a shortcut to where they practice Tai Chi behind a government building. After walking a short distance past some tall trees I reach my destination.
A group of about fifteen to twenty people are already there. I can see them limbering up in the light of the street lamps. They are mostly older men and women in their fifties and above. They greet me as I begin to limber up too. After about half an hour, I retrace my steps past the trees and come onto the road again. At the tea stall I stop to have a glass of ginger tea before going home. The eastern sky is beginning to light up. I can see the first crack of dawn against the dark sky. Soon the sun will rise and the day will begin.
From somewhere among the trees I can hear a magpie-robin sing its sweet song. It is so pleasant to hear it. Other birds start up too. Soon there is a chorus of twittering and chattering all around me. However I have to leave these beautiful sounds behind. I finish my drink and pay for it. I walk toward my house to get ready for my school.

One day, a terrible storm struck the village. The wind howled and the rain poured down. Many of the houses were damaged and several people were injured. People had become homeless and felt despondent. Kailash was also rendered homeless as his small shack was destroyed in the storm. However, he did not bow down in the face of these hardships. He worked tirelessly to help his neighbours. He helped to rebuild houses and he took care of the injured. He also rebuilt his small shack.
After the storm, Kailash was exhausted, but he was also satisfied. He had helped his neighbours and he knew that he had made a difference. A few days later, a stranger came to the village. He was a wealthy merchant and he was looking for someone to help him with a dangerous task.
He needed someone to travel to a faraway land and deliver a message to a powerful king. Kailash was the only person in the village who was willing to undertake the task. He knew that it was dangerous, but he also knew that it was an opportunity to make a difference in the world.
Kailash set off on his journey. He travelled for many days and nights. He faced shortage of food but still he persisted. He faced many dangers along the way, but he never gave up. Finally, he reached the king’s palace. The king was impressed by Kailash’s courage and determination. He listened carefully to his message and then rewarded Kailash with a large sum of money.
Kailash returned to his village a hero. He used the money to help his neighbours and he started a school for the children. He lived a long and happy life and he was always remembered for his kindness and generosity.
The saying, “Hardships prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary opportunity” is true. Kailash faced many hardships in his life, but he never gave up. He used his experiences to help others and he made a difference in the world.
ii. You are the Head Boy/Head Girl of your school. Narrate how you organised the celebration of Children’s Day in your school.

Recently on November 14th we celebrated Children’s Day at our school. As you know children’s day is celebrated in the memory of our first prime minister’s birthday Jawaharlal Nehru ji. He is kiown for the love he had towards small kids. As the Head Boy/Head Girl of my school, it was my privilege to organize the celebration of Children’s Day. I began by forming a committee of students and teachers to help me with the planning. We decided to have a day full of fun and activities for the students of all ages. We started the day with a special assembly, Our Principal and Head mistress lit the lamp and the principal greeted and congratulated the children through the central communication system. His speech on the significance of Children’s Day was quite informative.
Then there was a classical dance preformed by the students from class six to twelve as a group. Our teachers performed many thought provoking skits, they sung for us and also danced and entertained all the students in the hall. Students who had excelled in academics and sports during the previous term were congratulated and given medals.
After the assembly, we had a variety of games and activities for the students to participate in. There were races, tug-of-war, and even a talent show. The principal had allowed music to be played at a reasonably loud volume.
In the afternoon, we had a special guest speaker, who talked to the students about the importance of following their dreams and never giving up. The students were very inspired by his words, and they gave him a standing ovation.
The day ended with a closing ceremony, where we awarded prizes to the winners of the games and activities. We also thanked all of the students and teachers who helped to make the day such a success.
I was very proud of how the Children’s Day celebration turned out. It was a day full of fun and laughter, and it was a great way to celebrate the importance of children in our society. It was a perfect celebration of Children’s Day. Every student was made to feel special. With smiles on our faces, we thanked our teachers and the Principal. Our principal congratulated me on organising the Children’s Day celebrations extremely well.

Recently my friends and I decided to visit the Museum of Illusions on Sunday. I am very fond of visiting exciting places and as everyone is aware museums are places where we can learn about different cultures, see historical artefacts, and appreciate art. They can be a great way to spend a day, and they can also be a lot of fun. My teacher in school had highly recommended the Museum of Illusions so I planned with my friends to go there.
The Museum of Illusions is a unique museum that is located in New Delhi, India. We hired a taxi to visit the museum which we found was a home to a variety of optical illusions and interactive exhibits that are designed to challenge our perception of reality.
The one thing that I found unique was that it was not just a museum. It was also an interactive experience. As Visitors we were encouraged to touch and explore the exhibits, and were often surprised by what we saw. For example, there was one exhibit where visitors could stand on a platform that appeared to be floating in mid-air. Then there was another exhibit where visitors could see their own reflection in a mirror that was actually made of two pieces of glass that were placed at an angle.
The Museum of flllusions proved to be a great place to learn about the science of perception. We learnt how optical illusions work, and about the different ways that our brains process information. Our visit was an unique learning experience as the exhibits not only challenged our minds but also enabled us to see the world in a new way.
It was an exhilarating and novel experience which I would love to repeat. I will recommend visiting the Museum of Illusions to all my friends and acquaintances as not only does it provide entertainment but also opens our mind to new vistas of learning.

We saw the different types of cheese that are made on the farm and we learned about the process of making cheese. After we saw the cheese-making room, we went to the store. This is where the dairy products are sold. We bought some milk, cheese, and ice cream to take home.
We had a great time on our school visit to the dairy farm. We learned a lot about dairy farming and the importance of dairy products in our diet. We also got to see some amazing animals and learn; about their care. I would highly recommend a school visit to a dairy farm to any student who is interested in learning more about where their food comes from.

Charles was a fifteen-year-old boy who lay in the bed for three days before terror overtook him.
His right hand began to change. It moved a bit and then it lay there, changing colour.
In the afternoon the doctor came and asked him, “How are you?” “My cold is fine but I feel lousy!”, replied Charles. “My hand, it doesn’t belong to me any more. This morning it changed into something else. I want you to change it back!”
The doctor patted his hand. “It looks fine to me, son. You just had a little fever-dream.” The doctor gave him some pills and went away.
At four o’clock his other hand changed. It looked just like any ordinary hand. But it was not ordinary. It no longer was his any more.
At seven, Charles felt the same thing happening to first one leg and then the other.
The doctor came in and asked. “Did the pills help? Did your hand change back?”
“No, no, now it is my other hand and my legs!”
“It is a mild case of scarlet fever, complicated by a slight cold” the Doctor said.
Charles replied, “I read a book once about petrified trees, wood turning to stone. About how trees fell and rotted and minerals got in and built up and they look just like trees, but they are not, they are stone.”
“I’ve got to tell you this, Doctor,” he cried. “What would happen, just like in the old days, if a lot of microbes got together and made a bunch, and reproduced and made more?”
His white hands were on his chest now, crawling toward his throat.
“And they decided to take over a person!” cried Charles.
“Take over a person ?”
“Yes, become a person. Me, my hands, my feet! What if a disease somehow knew how to kill a person and yet live after him?”
The hands were on his neck.
The doctor told Charles’ parents. “Just be sure his hands are kept strapped to his legs. I don’t want him hurting himself.”
Now Charles felt that he had nobody. It was all gone. It was as if a guillotine had neatly lopped off his head and his head lay shining on a midnight pillow while the body, below, still alive, belonged to somebody else. The disease had eaten his body and from the eating had reproduced itself in feverish duplicate.
“I am dead”, he thought. “I have been killed, and yet I live. I will walk around and it will not be me, it will be something else. It will be something all bad, all evil, so big and so evil it is hard to understand or think about.”
Next morning, when the doctor came Charles was standing near the window.
