Rainwater is absorbed into the soil and slowly flows’underground to join a stream, pond or lake. Some of the water is stored underground.

- River – Natural flowing freshwater moving towards oceans, seas, lakes or other rivers
- Lake – A large area of water surrounded by land
- Pond – Small body of still water formed naturally or artificially
- Groundwater – Water found underground in soil pores, sand and cracks of rock
- Well – Dug or drilled structure to obtain water
- Canal – Man-made waterways for boats, ships or irrigation
- Dam – Barriers stopping surface water flow with reservoirs to store excess water
- Tube Well – Constructed by drilling into ground to reach underground layer of water
